My Role

Product Designer

My work at Renterra centered around fixing the workflows rental teams used the most: Kits, Statements, and Rates. I redesigned these areas to reduce confusion, surface the right information, and build patterns we could reuse across the product. This case study walks through how I simplified complex processes and strengthened the platform’s design system.

The Challenge

The toughest challenge was building scalable patterns on top of a product that had been growing quickly without a design system. Every redesign touched multiple areas, but none of the components or layouts were consistent. I had to redesign core workflows while also creating a design system that future teams could rely on.

My Approach

I approached the challenge by pairing tactical redesign work with strategic system building. For every workflow—Kits, Statements, Rates—I first identified the common structures: how data needed to be displayed, how users moved through tasks, and what elements repeated across the product. I then defined modular components and interaction patterns that could flex across multiple use cases. Instead of designing for a single screen, I designed for the entire platform’s future state. Each feature redesign became a pilot for the design system, giving engineering real, validated examples to build from. This dual-track approach allowed us to clean up the current experience while laying the groundwork for a more scalable, consistent product.

The Results

The updates made Renterra easier to navigate, more consistent, and far more reliable for day-to-day workflows. Key areas—Kits, Statements, Rates—were simplified, and the new design system gave engineering a single source of truth that now supports every new feature.
